If you want to work as a Watersports Instructor then Hengistbury Head Outdoor Centre is a fantastic place to gain the relevant qualifications!
This RYA accredited qualification is offered over three days. Using the Centre's unique location you will train at sea, in Christchurch harbour near Bournemouth and Poole and also on a river with constant flow.
The pre-entry test is included in the course price.
Run over five days our Dinghy Instructor course will develop your teaching skills so that you can work as a professional sailing instructor. The course is run by our full-time experienced RYA Coach Assessor and is moderated on the last day by a second RYA Coach Assessor.

This five day course is for competent windsurfers who are looking to teach the Start Windsurfing course and the Youth Windsurfing Scheme. Based in such a popular windsurfing location, we are ideally situated for this course.
You will learn how to teach and be given the opportunity to practise your teaching on other course candidates under the watchful eye of our windsurf trainer who will then work with you to improve your coaching.
We run a large number of Level 1 and Level 2 UKCC coaching courses at the Centre, many in conjunction with Brockenhurst College courses.

This course covers basic terminology, water safety, welfare and elementary equipment knowledge and is an ideal award for beginner coaches. Organised and accredited by British Rowing, this five day, Level 2 coach course is run on a demand-led basis.

This four day course marks the transition from managing your own small group of learners to that of being a ‘fleet manager’. The course includes supervising instructors under your control, practical teaching afloat, fleet management, running shore-based sessions, customer liaison and group discussions under the guidance of one of our very experienced dinghy coaching assessors.
Your progress will be continually assessed throughout the course.
If you want to work as an outdoor sports instructor, this course will give you the opportunity to gain four internationally recognised coaching qualifications.
Over a 13 week period you will receive high quality tuition in a range of sports, learning all the personal and coaching skills required to achieve 19 national governing body qualifications and become a professional outdoor sports instructor.

The Professional Water Sports Instructor course will provide learners with the knowledge, understanding and skills and enable progression with the water sports industry. You will gain two, level 2 qualifications, Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Activity Leadership and BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Sailing and Water Sports. The course will also include three national governing body Instructor qualifications that are essential for employment within the water sports and outdoor adventure sector.
On completion learners will have the necessary skills to successfully progress onto a Level 3 course or seek employment in the water sports industry.apply
